Rather than working in silos; organizations and businesses can build meaningful partnerships that align shared goals, leverage collective strengths, and increase community impact.

This session explores how strategic networking can serve as a powerful tool for building authentic relationships that lead to lasting collaborations. Effective networking is more than exchanging business cards, it is about creating intentional connections, identifying mutual opportunities, and turning conversations into partnerships that advance shared missions.

Participants will learn practical strategies for building relationships that create value for everyone involved. They will gain insights into how to identify aligned goals, cultivate trust, and expand their network in ways that support both organizational growth and community needs.

For nonprofits, these connections can help address common challenges such as securing food, clothing, school supplies, and emergency assistance for the families they serve. For example, a nonprofit serving students may connect with someone who has an existing relationship with Target, resulting in gift card donations for families in need. Networking may also lead to a business becoming a recurring school supply sponsor, reducing program costs while creating a meaningful partnership. By weaving relationships together, organizations can unlock new resources, strengthen community support systems, and create greater collective impact.

Domenique Getchman is a nonprofit development, marketing, and communications professional with more than 15 years of experience advancing mission-driven organizations and building meaningful connections within the community. Throughout her career, she has combined strategic communications, fundraising, marketing, and community engagement to help organizations expand their reach and create impact.

Domenique’s professional journey has included working in the nonprofit sector focused on sex trafficking prevention and survivor support, as well as contributing to the boxing community, where she gained valuable experience in outreach, relationship-building, and community engagement. These experiences shaped her passion for connecting people and resources to create meaningful change.

Currently, she serves as Development & Communications Manager at TOGETHER!, a Thurston County nonprofit dedicated to advancing the education, health and wellbeing of young people and families. In her role, she builds relationships with businesses, foundations, donors, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen support for programs that provide educational opportunities, housing stability, mentorship, and critical resources to local youth and families.

Domenique is passionate about storytelling and believes that effective communications can inspire people to move from awareness to action. Whether developing partnerships, securing sponsorships, leading fundraising efforts, or amplifying the voices of the communities served, she is committed to creating opportunities where every young person and family can thrive.
